The travel days, 5/21 and 22
Things went swimmingly until about a half an hour out of Anacortes, when I got a text from Lufthans
a that our flight out of Vancouver would be delayed by 90 minutes and we would not make our connection to Lisbon. That news was happily tempered by seeing 50 or more juvenile and mature eagles fishing in the shallows near White Rock, BC as we rode the train from Mt. Vernon to Vancouver. Wish I’d been fast enough to catch a photo from a moving train!
We made up some time flying, and sprinted (the wrong direction, then the right one!) and made the flight. Yay!a that our flight out of Vancouver would be delayed by 90 minutes and we would not make our connection to Lisbon. Unfortunately, our carefully wrapped backpacks did not sprint on to the Lisbon flight, but we continued on the train to Porto, where we have one day to be tourists, bags are promised to be flown to Porto and delivered to our little hotel tomorrow. The airport baggage folks gave us overnight toiletries and a bit of detergent to wash necessaries, so we’re good to go!
Finished the evening with a bit of supper, a glass of wine, and a stroll around nighttime Porto - busy and beautiful!
