Wednesday June 5th Teo to Santiago de Compostela 14km

Wednesday June 5th Teo to Santiago de Compostela 14km

Today was planned to be short to allow us to arrive before noon so folks could go to the noon Pilgrim Mass. We successfully arrived at 11:30 and stashed our backpacks to at our hotel and made it to Saint Francis’ church appropriately  smelly and shirts visibly wet ðŸ˜³ The main cathedral is closed for repair in preparation for the 2021 Holy Year when over 650000 filthy sweaty pilgrims are expected ðŸ˜³
There were about 250000 in 2016 when we walked our first Camino.

After the Pilgrims blessing we went to Cafe’ Oporto (a local traditional way to say/spell Porto where we started this adventure). We toasted our arrival and had tapas and simple ham and cheese sandwiches (bocadillos in Spanish)

After lunch Ginny and Benny rented a car and drove to Finisterre and Muxia to explore and return to Santiago Thursday where we’ll share one more evening and conversations before we split up again and start our homeward journeys Via Lisbon for us and Belgium for them.

Before dinner we strolled through town, had a coffee con leche, and visited the church of Saint Francis of Assisi where we got a pilgrim certificate of blessing. After this we found our way to the central pilgrims office to get our final pilgrim passport stamp from the cathedral of Santiago.

On the medical front Kelli is slowly recovering from a significant heal blister and Brian continues on the mend from the visit to the doctor to fix a large under callous blister. Hopefully by our next birthdays we’ll be all mended.

Dinner was in a nice out of the way cafe where until 9PM we were the only customers. Tomorrow is a day of rest and switching of hotel because we were not able to get one hotel with two consecutive days within our meager pilgrims budget ðŸ˜Ž

Pictures probably will follow pending the quality of the connection. arrivederci or hasta la vista or similar till tomorrow.
