Villafranca del Bierzo to Herrerias

Left the beautiful city of Villafranca about 7:40 this morning to take an option route over a very large hill, rather than following the freeway. Our route is the green "Pradela" route -

Santiago saw us on our way-

We quickly took on 400 meters of ascent!

It was a lovely morning for walking, we were on top on the flat in no time.

Of course, what goes up must come down, which we did into Trabadelo.

This pic is for our friends J and W, who walked the Camino back in the dark ages of 2001. This is one of the fleet of JacoTrans vans that provide Peregrino services, mostly backpack and baggage transport. They're everywhere!!

We caught up with David and Jenny, Australian friends from back at the Cruz de Ferro, and walked the rest of the day with them.

On to the last big hill, O Cebriero, in the morning.

  1. On day 26 of our walk we stayed in La Faba, the next little village past you place. That is where we had a special mass with foot washing, one of our most memorial. Sounds like you are doing well with your walking. You are becoming "walking machines." Keep it up as there are some more hills along the way. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!
